The Project So Far

Welcome!

After talking with my tutor on week 3 of my dissertation, we agreed it would be a good idea to have a website built for the project.

On this website you will find information relating to the development of my dissertation project.

To start with, i’ll post the current stage of the project.

For my dissertation,  I am creating 3 puzzles that have Unity tools and then creating a Virtual Reality game around these puzzles.

Below you will be able to see the first draft for each puzzle and their tool

Archery

The archery puzzle consists of:

  • A table for collecting the bow and arrows
  • Targets around the table to be shot

The tool for the puzzle does the following:

  • Allows the user to select how many targets they want
  • Set the distance from the target to the spawn point
  • Preview the result before placement with OnSceneGUI() and the Handles class in unity
  • Spawn the puzzle into the scene

Totem Down

The Totem Down puzzle consists of:

  • Totems that need to be pushed down
  • Rocks to be placed on the totems, of varying weight

The tool for the puzzle does the following:

  • Finds the relevant prefabs within the resource folder
  • Generates a spawn point into the scene which can be seen with a red Handle
  • Allows for previewing the puzzle with the Handles class
  • Spawns the objects into the scene

Totem Heads

The Totem Heads puzzle consists of:

  • Totems that can be turned
  • Line Renderers that change color when a totem is facing the master totem
  • Chain totems to complete

The tool for the puzzle does the following:

  • Finds the relevant prefabs in the resource folder
  • Generates a spawn point into the scene which can be seen with a red Handle
  • Gives the option to have chain totems 
  • Allows for previewing the puzzle using the Handles class
  • Spawns the objects into the scene
